Last week, the mister and I had a baby free weekend for the first time in 16 months, so we decided to go for a little road trip to Liverpool, to see our friends and his colleagues, as one of them was getting promoted to assistant management.
My sweetheart little sister offered to look after our bambino for a whole weekend, as she doesn't get to see him that often.
After I left my little sister and mr bambino, to get on the train to Liverpool, I started to feel really weird. I was on my own for the first time, in a very long time. This wasn't just for a couple of hours.... I wouldn't see him until Sunday night!!! Okay, maybe this isn't a big deal to some people but, I honestly didn't know what to do with my hands, I wasn't pushing a pram, or holding a baby! I felt really empty, with a little bit of anxiety. I was a little bit worried to be honest, but I had to remind myself that he is in fact, in safe hands, with my family!
When I arrived in Liverpool after God knows how many hours, I started to enjoy myself, and met up with my friends. The mister was still on the road, on his way to Liverpool. We went to a bar/restaurant called San Carlo and it's absolutely gorgeous in there. So much class. The staff were superb. And as you can see I'm pretty boring and picky when it comes to food, so I only eat what I know as I don't want to be disappointed (I need to stop doing this and try out different types of foods, really!) but I live off calamari and seafood pizza. It's an addiction!
Of course I had to drag the mister around to come shopping with me in Liverpool One shopping centre on the Saturday. Let me just tell you that he enjoyed it more than me! I think it's because they've got shops on both sides, so you don't have to walk far. We'd come out from H&M and Next would be right in front of us, reading our mind! I said whoever came up with that was a genius, he said either that, or they're lazy. Hmmm. Anyway, whenever we tried to go to the men section, in Topshop (Top Man) or Riverisland, he noticed that both times they were in the basement. He couldn't stop laughing. That's where we keep you men! Haha.
We also went to the Albert Dock waterfront to have a little stroll in the evening, before we left on Sunday. The buildings are fantastic, and there's just so much history in that place! We went to look at the ships, the Liverpool eye, the gift shops. I was sad that the museums were closed as I LOVE the Beatles and would've gone to the Beatles Story! We are definitely planning on going back, and this time - it'll be in the day time and hopefully we will have more time there! If you're ever in Liverpool, please do go there and explore. It's a must see, especially in the winter! Oh, and also, if you're thinking of actually eating at one of the restaurants in the waterfront, make sure to book in advance because it will be fully booked. We did go there quite late on Sunday, and every single one of them were fully booked.
I didn't take as many pictures as I would've liked to as I didn't spend too much time on my phone, or camera but here are a few from Saturday, and Sunday night.
